On Friday the 25th Room 10 had their first World Cup Football match against Room 7. There were two rounds to the tournament; a boy’s match and then a girl’s match. The boys were up for the challenge first. Riley, the team captain, won the toss and chose to kick off. It was a nail biting match, of what felt like the longest six minutes ever! Room 7 had great defence which helped them score first. In the final seconds, room 10 scored the equalizing goal and celebrated in style with the famous 'airplane' dance. It was now left up to the girls to get room 10 into the next round.

Katianne, the girl’s captain, won her toss – luck was on our side with Room 10 scoring in the first minute. We put our defence but they managed to score an equalizer, leaving both teams nervous. As hard as we tried to keep the ball from going into our opponents’ goal, they managed to score. We had to get another goal to have a chance at the next round. In the last few moments of the game we scored a goal, leaving it at two all. Now it was up to our mighty c team to win.

With our captain risking all and playing with a pulled hamstring, we managed to put on some mighty defence and worked well as a team. There was support and chants coming from the sidelines and on the field. Tension was everywhere as Room 7 scored the first goal. We felt that we could get it back again, just like before. Unfortunately, we never got the chance to score again. Room 7 had excellent defence but what we did achieve was stopping them from scoring again and working well as a team.
